Sapphire & Silver Portrait Design Announces Closure of Conway Studio

Conway, SC – October 4, 2025 — Sapphire & Silver Portrait Design has announced the difficult decision to close its Conway, South Carolina studio location due to shifting market trends and increased competition from “shoot-and-burn” photographers in the area.

Founded by award-winning portrait artist Tim Hilbourn, Sapphire & Silver Portrait Design was created to offer clients a luxury portrait experience — one focused on timeless artistry, custom design, and heirloom-quality printed artwork.

“Our goal has always been to provide more than just pictures,” said Hilbourn. “We believe every portrait should be a piece of art — thoughtfully created, beautifully finished, and designed to be cherished for generations. Unfortunately, the current market in the Conway area has shifted toward lower-cost, high-volume options that make it difficult to sustain our level of craftsmanship in that location.”

While the Conway studio will close its doors, Tim Hilbourn Photography will continue to serve clients through its Whiteville, NC studio and through special on-location sessions along the Grand Strand. Clients who have upcoming sessions or artwork orders will be contacted directly to ensure a smooth transition.

“This isn’t goodbye — it’s simply a refocus,” Hilbourn added. “We’ll continue offering the same exceptional portrait experiences our clients love, and we look forward to serving both North Carolina and South Carolina families with the quality and attention to detail that define our work.”

Continuing Services

Clients may still schedule sessions, consultations, and artwork design appointments through the Whiteville studio or by video call.
